A calm cozy refuge. That’s what coming home should feel like. As fall comes into focus and winter is not far behind, our home becomes our haven away from the season– a place to power down on your own or draw people together as the shorter nights close in. As the new seasons beckon, it’s always good to be prepared for it.

From Natural ElementsWhimsical EmbroideryFeminine Accents, or Nature Inspired Art and more, I’ll guide you through the best new looks for any home with my list of 8 Fall Home Design Trends to Love from Anthropologie

Their latest fall home decor collection titled, Portrait of a Home, ignites all of the senses with their biggest collection yet.

 1 Floral Wallpaper

It’s no surprise that the modern wallpaper trend is still going strong: wallpaper is a relatively simple and inexpensive update and today’s patterns barely resemble the dated looks of the past.

It really allows you to change the look of any room quickly and easily. TropicalVintage, Less Rigid and Refined, and Large Floral wallpaper, in particular, has set a modern trend all its own.

Take for instance the Figi Gardens Wallpaper above, a refreshing chic take over the more bold floral contenders out there and it has the convience of paste-free backing and easy removal – perfect to change your walls up when the mood strikes.

Now wallpapers come in more color choices than ever before – greens, beige, tones of pinks, yellow, gray and blues make floral patterns an easy accessory to brighten up any room, inside a cabinet, or line a drawer – so many creative ways to surprise with larger patterns.

The unapologetically maximalist Floral Wallpaper above is described by Anthropologie as, “Oversized and opulent with a gorgeously fluid sense of movement, it gives the impression that each petal is unfurling on your wall.” I agree and love it also in the beige and dark teal color choices.

If you’re into vintage or folk art motifs, then florals made from Dutch Patterns can bring a sense of rustic elegance to any room.
These black and white sketched tulips are reminiscent of a Dutch Garden bringing an old world charm to an endearing Floral Wallpaper – really great with any color scheme.

Wallpapers are great at bringing a sense of calm and optimism to a simple sitting area, nook, closet, or bath area.

Floral patterns for fall now have a less rigid and defined look than classic ones from the past. This Wallpaper from Farrow and Ball would be a wonderful floral addition where it’s design blooms freely in all directions to bring your walls to life.

I find this pattern facinating in that it looks like the leaves are casting a shadow from a window on a beige wall – totally in love with it.

2. Natural Elements

European home decor influences are still a trend building on bringing natural accents mixed with rustic elements and cozy textures. Anthropologie has taken this trend to heart with a collection that celebrates all things honest and at one with the outdoors.

The above room is a perfect example grounded with its Swirled  Drum Coffee Tablemade of salvaged and repurposed materials with its organic lines and natural grain, Plushed Neutral Woven Sofa, Textured Pillow, Metal Chained Chandelier, Handwoven Neutral Rug, Gold Crystallized Sconce, and it’s khaki toned City Abstract Wall Art.

8 Fall Home Design Trends to Love from AnthropologieNatural Accents are great at bringing a chic cohesive room together, grounded by neutrals, textures, and earth tones – stripes in a Striped Sectional Couch and in a hand-carved Round Side Table paired perfectly with Textured Baskets, Knotted Neutral Pillows, and a Woven Rattan Pendant.

For an easy natural accent addition to elevate a room, macrame is still trending all things natural and textured in the home decor department. The Lana Macrame Pendanthas that wow factor to create a grounded chic space, and the best part it can be hardwired with a dimmer switch to set the perfect ambiance.

From neutral accents, textural wall hangings and macrame pendants, Anthropologie is helping you to invite mother nature inside – a great trend to keep your home grounded and inviting.

3. Whimsical Embroidery

Embroidery keeps going strong not only in Fashion but in beautiful decorative pieces for the home. This Fall trend dictates beautiful florals, whimsical animal motifs, and embellished lampshades.

Featuring hand-embroidered detailing and a luxed gold fringed finish; it doesn’t get better than the Embroidered Cleo Wall Hanging. Stunning and eye-catching, it demands to be noticed above a couch, a bed, or anywhere you’d like vibrant visual interest.

Even the smallest touches can bring a surprising visual impact – the teal green Dragonfly Lamp Shade surprises with its whimsical dragonflies, pink poms, and gold beading. Perfect in an office, on a nightstand, or entryway and best of all it comes in three sizes to suit any space.

Every year Anthropologie comes out with an ultra chic eye-catching embroidered chair, and this year didn’t disappoint.

If vibrant flora with whimsical embroidery mixed with natural patterns found on animals such as peacocks or birds is your thing, then the Jimena Occasional chair has all of that in spades. This chair is the ultimate show piece, one to enjoy for years to come.

4. Feminine Accents

Bringing a touch of femininity through the use of color or shapes can really help lighten a room or balance more masculine aspects or textures from a space. These handcrafted Glass Vases make a case for a much-needed fall trend to liven up mantels, side tables, and windowsills.

The female portrait in wall art has a long history of bringing a feminine accent anywhere it’s placed. This nostalgic-tinged Portrait of a Young Lady with its monochromatic rendering is reminiscent of the pages of a treasured family album. Its tone is the perfect piece for fall in a feminine accent piece. In my 8 Fall Home Decor Trends to Love from Anthropologie list, this is one item to enjoy for many seasons to come.

Felines have been well associated with femininity since the Egyptian period even as symbols of protectors. These gold Posed Cat Taper Candle Holders with their playful stance are some of my favorites for the fall – ready to be displayed and admired. Anthropologie even used the tall cat candle holder as a bookend styled on a bookcase.

5. Farmhouse Refresh

8 Fall Home Design Trends to Love from Anthropologie

Farmhouse decor style has come a long way to becoming chicly modern through its use of mixing in industrial, minimalist, and contemporary pieces.

Roughly hewn and rustic, Anthropologie puts an udate to a classic shape with organic knots and charming imperfections in this refreshing take on a bleached toned Farmhouse Coffee Table. Love it styled above with a  Minimalist Sectional Sofa with metal legs, a neutral Shag Rug, and Textured Chandelier.

Additionally, the similar bleached Farmhouse Console Table makes good use of its down home style in any room such as media storage, as an entryway table, or as a sofa table.

Equal parts classic and modern in three chic neutrals to choose from, these Farmhouse Pottery Candlesticks set the fall stage for any sophisticated table top no matter the occassion.

6. Nature Inspired Wall Murals

8 Fall Home Design Trends to Love from Anthropologie

Not new in Anthropologie’s Fall Collection, but a trend all of its own, large tapestry’s and wall murals are slowly gaining favor over the high trending wallpaper scene.

Nothing brings the outdoors in like a large nature-inspired wall mural or tapestry. Fused with animal, florals, and sketched landscape motifs, wall murals are staking its claim on eye-catching depth and tasteful elegance.

The Top-Rated Petrichor Tapestry looks like it was sketched years ago from a master artist living in France, or at least that’s how I envision it.

Striking and sophisticated for fall indeed. Other fantastic contenders in this fall design trend category is the Rosalie Tapestry with its artist rendered nature scene, the Classic Countryside Mural on point with its rolling hills and deep shade of greens, and my favorite another Top-Rated Etched Arcadia Mural with its graphite-hued forestry.

7. Beautiful Details

8 Fall Home Design Trends to Love from Anthropologie

Really, aren’t the details in your fall home what visitors and friends talk about the most? In my 8 Fall Home Design Trends to Love from Anthropologie list, details take center stage in trinkets, inlays, keen design elements, and metallic sparkle and shine.

I like to refer to these objects as antiquities to love – like the delightful Patinaed Pig above used to store trinkets (get a closer look at the pig below in my top fall items under $100 at the bottom of this post), paired with the bold Floral Wallpaper, the clever Patterend Pen Holder (similar), and the Yellow Floral Art Print. All combined to create a clever collection of beautiful details.

Combining similar metallic tones such as these copper glass Mercury Vases, Coppered Hurricane Candles with Gold Candles in various heights can really bring not only sight but smell (Pumpkin Clove and Spiced Cider scented) to fall spaces, creating beautiful details for now and seasons to come.

Table lighting gets a fall trending update in the whimsical gold Bumblebee Table Lamp. If you look close enough you can find gold bumblebees buzzing around a honeycomb shaped lamp shade. It’s beautiful details like these that would have anyone treasuring this delightful lamp antiquity.

Even nightstands are stepping up their game with beautiful details with this bold Black and White Inlayed Nightstand. Featuring intricately patterned bone and inlaid brass hardware, this storage nightstand is a sleek, stately choice for any home. Absolutely in love with the white colorway in this as well.
